Myanmar’s first girl band, Me N Ma Girls, performing at the RHB Singapore Cup quarter finals with Philippines Idol, Mau Marcelo

SINGAPORE, 28 JUNE 2012

Two of the remaining invited foreign clubs, KBZ FC from Myanmar and Loyola Meralco Sparks of Philippines, will face off against each other in the pick of the quarter finals.

Featuring for the Sparks are some top Philippines players including former Chelsea youth players, the famous Younghusband brothers.

Both Phillip and James were key reasons why Loyola managed to grind out a 2-1 win over Geylang United that was won in extra time, with the winning goal coming from another Philippines international, Mark Hartmann.

Loyola’s quarter-final opponents, KBZ FC put on a show for their big crowd of fans who turned up to show their support against Woodlands Wellington. They dominated the game from start to end and took a 1-0 lead as early as the third minute through Myanmar International and star striker Soe Min Oo, before going on to win the game 2-1.

KBZ is also coached by one of the top Singapore coaches, P.N. Sivaji.

The already exciting match up will be further boosted with the appearances of Philippines Idol winner, Ms Mau Marcelo and Myanmar girl group, Me N Ma Girls, performing before the match and during half time during the first and second leg matches respectively.

Fans from both sides will be able to witness the performing celebrities from their own countries during the games. Ms Mau Marcelo, the first Philippines Idol winner in 2006 and also Philippines’ representative at the first Asian Idol contest, will be showcasing her talents on the first leg, which will be played on 5th June.

Me N Ma Girls, the first girl band from Myanmar, will be flying in specially to perform at the second leg three days later on 8th July.

Both games will be played at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

In another RHB Singapore Cup Quarter-Final, Singapore Armed Forces will take on trophy holders Home United in what is dubbed the Uniform Derby. The Protectors will be determined to defend the cup they won last year, but the Warriors themselves are aiming to end a four year streak of not winning Singapore’s premier cup competition.

The remaining two RHB Singapore Cup fixtures features Tampines Rovers against Albirex Niigata(S), and Gombak United against Hougang United.

Lucky Singaporean Fan Presents the
Carlsberg Man of the Match Award to Andrea Pirlo at
UEFA EURO 2012™ Semi-Finals

Singapore, 29 June 2012 Today, Singaporean Vishal Singh Kanwar fulfilled a lifelong dream to travel to the European Football Championships and got an insight behind the scenes, as he presented Italian star Andrea Pirlo with the Carlsberg Man of the Match Award at the UEFA EURO 2012™ Germany v Italy semi-final match in Warsaw, Poland. Italy now goes on to Kiev to play Spain in the UEFA EURO 2012™ Final.

A delighted Vishal enthused after the presentation, “What a fantastic day! After such a great match watching Italy take their place in the Final, it just kept getting better. I showed how football is part of my life in a competition back home and I can’t believe I got to meet Andrea Pirlo and present him with the Carlsberg Man of the Match Award today...amazing. I would like to thank Carlsberg for making this happen and good luck to Italy in the final game on Sunday!”

Carlsberg, now in its seventh consecutive European Championships tournament sponsorship, has been recognising the courage and passion in those fans willing to show the world what they would do to be at UEFA EURO 2012™, by helping them get closer to the action. Fans who have stepped up and done the right thing have been rewarded with hundreds of prizes, ranging from merchandise to match tickets and the ultimate reward – the chance to present a Carlsberg Man of the Match Award at one of the 31 UEFA EURO 2012™ matches.
True to Carlsberg’s lavish hospitality, Vishal was flown by business class to Warsaw, greeted at the airport, housed in a five-star hotel and most befittingly, pampered at the Carlsberg Hospitality Suite on match day – a luxurious experience which this ardent football fan describes as the “experience of a lifetime”.
Commented Bart Lim, General Manager of Carlsberg Singapore: “We could not have been happier to reward a true fanatic like Vishal. At the same time, Carlsberg Singapore would like to thank our customers and participants who supported us during our Carlsberg EURO 2012™ campaign. We look forward to rewarding all with more exciting promotions and activities this year.”
Andrea Pirlo was delighted to have been chosen as the Carlsberg Man of the Match, by fans as well as UEFA Legend and Carlsberg ambassador Peter Schmeichel. Andrea Pirlo said, "Thanks very much for my prize! The team pulled off a great victory tonight against an exceptional side. We hoped to get this far from the very start, and now that we are here we hope to play a great final – we are here to win.”
Carlsberg ambassador and UEFA Legend Peter Schmeichel added, “"There were a few players to choose from. Mario Balotelli scored two goals and I can't remember seeing Gianluigi Buffon play so well, but I think this fellow here, Andrea Pirlo, produced the best performance of the EURO so far. His ability with the ball, his passing, the way he frustrated the Germans today, it was a piece of art and I'd like to congratulate him because he was absolutely fantastic – and congratulations on reaching the final as well."

Achilles Formula Drift Singapore: Canon Nations Cup

Media Release

Achilles Formula Drift Singapore crowns Team USA
as Canon Nations Cup winners

Local fans were treated to a nail-biting finish as Team USA dethroned Team Japan in the Canon Nations Cup at Changi Exhibition Centre

28 June 2012 (SINGAPORE): Ken Gushi and Robbie Nishida won the Canon Nations Cup after beating Manabu Orido and Daigo Saito by a narrow margin of 0.3 points at the Achilles Formula Drift Singapore today at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

The partisan crowd was brought to their feet when the Singapore team of Jansen Tan and Ivan Lim secured third spot with some exhilarating overtaking maneuvers. Gushi and Nishida backed up their pre-race words of wanting to claim the title as they stormed down the track to nail a score of 20.8 while the Japanese duo of Saito and Orido had to settle for second with 20.5 points.

Six countries participated in the Canon Nations Cup including Oceania, Malaysia and Indonesia where contrary to the traditional Formula Drift tandem battles, the Canon Nations Cup saw drivers of the same country paired together for two tandem runs where points are awarded for teamwork and coordination; teams with the most stylish runs win.

Speaking after his thrilling win, Gushi said: "We are thrilled to have won the Canon Nations Cup here in Singapore and we went out on our run, wanting to have fun and give the crowd something to cheer about. This is not the first time Robbie and I have drifted together and I guess the judges liked the natural flow of our run. That is probably the reason for us winning it."

In the Qualifying Round of the Achilles Formula Drift Singapore, reigning champion Daigo Saito continued his fine form with a score of 94 while Indonesian drifter, Rio Saputro Budihardjo put on an amazing show to score a 92 to see Manabu Orido finish in third with 90 points.

With the Qualifiers completed, the Round of 32 will witness some interesting battles with Manabu Orido in his 1998 Toyota Supra, taking on the only female drifter in the competition, Hiromi Kajikuma while crowd favourite Ken Gushi in his Toyota Chaser will be up against Singapore’s new kid on the block, Geoveen Hi.

Singapore’s two best hopes of a podium finish, Ivan Lim will face off against Hanizam Bin Hamzah while Jansen Tan will seek to complete his comeback from injury when he takes on Rocker Loh.

An elated Ivan Lim said: "I feel really good qualify for the Top 16 considering the fact that I only had a total of four runs but there is still lot to improve. With more practice tomorrow, I would be able to lay the whole line on the track properly and get a better score. My target is the top eight so we’ll see if I can achieve it."

The action will continue on Day Two of the Achilles Formula Drift Singapore at the Changi Exhibition Centre where the Round of 32 will begin at 12.00pm while the Round of 16 will take place at 3.30pm.

Fans who missed out on the action from Day One can purchase your tickets at the event for SG$65 Grandstand tickets and SG$40 for Walkabout tickets. For more event information and updates, log on to www.formuladriftasia.com or

Just imagine, a digital notice board for all your sporting needs

Your problem

You are a PR professional handling a sports-related account. Or you are an executive from a National Sports Association. You have a sporting event or a launch over the weekend but have no idea how to publicise it.

Advertising in the mainstream media is too expensive. You approach the newspaper editors but they bummed you off. You try and pitch angles, but nobody seems to be interested.

What do you do? Where do you go to get that valuable bit of media exposure?

Our solution

After several years working as a journalist and PR professional in Singapore, I have received countless media invites and press releases that went straight into the rubbish bin without the editors even taking a second look.

As an event promoter or a communications executive, how do you counter that? How do you make yourself heard?

Here, at where2goal, we want to help you.

How? Just imagine a digital web-based sporting notice board, where you can put up all your media releases. Yup, that's us.

You have full control over your content - we won't change a word. You can send us beautiful pictures of your new product, videos, and even hyperlinks back to your own site, we will be happy to accept them.

And once your content is up, it stays there.

Help us to help you

Can you trust us? Will you get the exposure you desire? Well, we are new, we are fresh, and we are most willing to please.

But help us to help you. Post your stuff with us, and tell your other marketing collegaues and media contacts about us. All we need is everyone to come visit our 'notice board' and make it your one-stop sporting resource of what's haappening in the Singapore sports scene.

The reality

Look, that sports editor is not taking nor replying your calls. That media ad sales executive is bugging you to part with a five-figure sum to buy a full-page ad plus bulk buy in exchange of a 3-col sidebar.

The least you can do is to give us a try.

It's free, anyway. And we are just an email away.
